Coaches PDF Print E-mail

We are fortunate to have a great group of coaches with a wide level of experience playing field hockey not only in college, but internationally as well. They are dedicated to pass on their enthusiasm and love for the sport. In addition, we have many dedicated parents who have been with us for several seasons and have learned to play field hockey with their daughters and play in our adult recreational league.

MegMeg Dudek, Commissioner and Program Director
Meg, a goalkeeper, leads our hockey program and comes with playing and coaching experience.  A DIII college level player, she has been actively playing for the Mavericks Field Hockey Club from 2000-2006.  Meg has also head coached the JV Field Hockey team at Falls Church High School in Fairfax County as well as coached with several youth organizations including Vienna Youth, Inc.

REFEREES

BrandonBrandon Pugsley.  Ref Coordinator Brandon became involved in field hockey after seeing wife and LFHA coach Melissa have so much fun.  After coaching for a couple of seasons, Brandon has turned his focus to reffing not only for LFHA but also for Fairfax County high schools as well as several youth and adult tournaments.

Aaron Dudek.  Once Aaron realize that field hockey is not just a women's sport, he quickly picked up the game and has been playing ever since.  He became involved in reffing and, like Brandon, also refs for LFHA, Fairfax County high school, and local youth and adult tournaments.

Richard Hayden.  Richard played hockey as his main sport as a youth and adult, representing top Irish club team ICICYMA and Munster province. He also coached the Cork University Women’s 2nd XI and umpired national-level club competition. After moving to England in 1985 he played on the Oxfordshire county side and coached the Oxford Girls’ U-18 team. He moved to the USA in 1996 and is excited to share his passion for the sport in Loudoun.

EAST FIELD COACHES

Mel Lou King.  Lou recently moved to the USA from the UK, where she was actively involved in playing and coaching field hockey, to include the UK Badsey Ladies (1993-2005), UK Redditch Ladies (2005-2006) and level 1 coaching in 2004. Louise  is a founding member of LFHA and enjoys coaching youth field  hockey with us and plays in our our adult competitive league.

Rob

Rob Groot.  Rob learned to play field hockey in The Netherlands where it is as popular as baseball in the USA. He played for well over 20 years in diverse teams from recreational leagues to varsity levels. Coach Rob can not only be found on the sidelines when coaching his team he can also be found on the field in the field hockey competition league on Sundays.

Tiffany Householder.  Tiffany played 4 years of varsity in high school with several appearances at the Maryland state championships including one state win.  She played club field hockey at Elon University (NC) and the University of Maryland.  She believes that skill comes with loving the game so she is here to teach the girls to love field hockey.

Amy Barrett.  Amy’s hockey experience comes from being involved with her daughters.  Her oldest daughter plays for Herndon High School and her younger daughter plays with LFHA.  Amy is looking forward to another season sharing her love of field hockey with her daughters and teammates.

Jackie Scholten.  Jackie has been playing field hockey since middle school and continued playing throughout her high school days in Massachusetts.  Having worked with kids of all ages, her experienced and enthusiasm certainly carries over to LFHA.  A huge fan of the sport, Jackie has also gotten involved in playing in the LFHA adult league as well.

WEST FIELD COACHES
Mel

Melissa Pugsley.  Melissa grew up in Pennsylvania and played field hockey from 5th to 12th grades and during her first year of college. After switching colleges, she unfortunately moved to one that did not have a field hockey team, and is excited to get back into the game.  She “loves the sport, the competition and the life lessons learned through sports.”

Chris Chris Newcomb.  Chris played varsity in high school for three years and started the Field Hockey Club at George Mason U.  She loves coaching and has done so in Loudoun in softball and volleyball, and feels strongly about field hockey in our county. She joins the league and the field with her daughter playing with us too.

Steph

Stephanie Swain.  Stephanie has played hockey since she was in sixth grade.  She continued her career at the University of Delaware where she started in every game.  Recently graduated, couldn’t stay away from the game and brings energy and motivation in hopes to teach the girls to love the sport of field hockey.  You can also find her on the hockey fields on Sunday playing with the adult league.
